Pussy Riot Condannate a due anni di reclusione
Judge Marina Syrova today found the punk band Pussy Riot guilty of hooliganism motivated by religious hatred for staging an anti-Kremlin protest on the altar of Moscow’s main Russian Orthodox church. Nadezhda Tolokonnikova, 22, Maria Alyokhina, 24, and Yekaterina Samutsevich, 30, said they were protesting against close ties between Putin and the Russian Orthodox church and did not intend to offend believers. Alyokhina, Tolokonnikova and Samutsevich, watching proceedings from inside a glass-walled cage in the courtroom, smiled as the widely predicted verdict was delivered. Pussy Riot replied: “Our imprisonment serves as a clear and unambiguous sign that freedom is being taken away from the entire country“. Large crowds of supporters have gathered outside the court in Moscow, including prominent opposition leader Alexei Navalny. However critics of the band are also protesting. Some in Russian see the case as an attempt by the government to crack down on dissent. Protests are being held around the world in support of the band members. The band have also had vocal support from artists including Paul McCartney and Madonna, and from politicians.
Alla fine il verdetto è stato emesso e la corte non ha tenuto conto delle tante voci che si erano mosse in loro difesa. Stiamo ovviamente parlando delle Pussy Riot, la punk band russa che poche ore fa è stata condannata a due anni di reclusione. Questa è la sentenza finale: “le tre ragazze hanno suonato una canzone blasfema, ed insultante nella cattedrale di Mosca, commettendo una grave violazione dell’ordine pubblico, disturbando la quiete dei cittadini e insultando profondamente le convinzioni del fedeli ortodossi. Il testo della loro canzone esprimeva odio verso la religione oltre che verso le istituzioni del nostro paese”. La sentenza non ha però fiaccato le tre Pussies che si sono dette felici di aver smosso l’opinione pubblica internazionale: “Siamo divenute l’epicentro di un grande evento pubblico, non ci aspettavamo un processo perché non abbiamo commesso nessun reato ma ora continueremo a lottare, non siamo delinquenti, siamo artisti”. Il caso ha già scatenato le ire dei supporters e delle associazioni a difesa dei diritti umani che in queste ultime ore hanno organizzato manifestazioni in tutta Europa. Tra le star scese in campo in favore delle tre artiste, Madonna, Bjork e l’ex Beatle Paul McCartney, e marce di protesta sono previste anche in Svezia, Francia e Germania.
